Mafia: The Old Country: Mystery Fox Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

Mystery Foxes are the most iconic collectibles in Mafia: The Old Country — small ceramic fox statues hidden in the most obscure corners of Sicily, from lighthouse rooftops and boat haystacks to factory crates and opera house dressing rooms.

There are 50 Mystery Foxes in total, and collecting them all unlocks both a secret cosmetic reward and two distinct trophies. Every Fox is documented on MapMaster's in-game interactive Mafia: The Old Country game map — the only tracker that shows all 50 simultaneously with chapter-specific access notes.

Three Trophies Tied to Mystery Foxes

Mystery Foxes unlock three trophies across the full collection:

  • Vulpi Misteriusa — triggered the moment Enzo picks up his very first Fox
  • Mystery Fox Domination — unlocked after collecting all 50
  • The Collector — requires all 50 Mystery Foxes alongside all Newspapers, Photographs, and Saint's Cards

10 Story Foxes vs 40 Explore Mode Foxes

The 50 Mystery Foxes divide into two categories:

10 Story-Exclusive Foxes

Located inside areas that are inaccessible during Explore Mode. Each is tied to a specific Chapter. Miss one during its chapter, and it must be recovered via Chapter Replay from the main menu.

Story chapters with the most Fox density: Chapter 12: La Forza Del Destino contains 3 (all in the Palermo Opera House), Chapter 7: Spirito Sportivo has 3, and Chapter 6 and 9 each contain 2.

40 Explore Mode Foxes

Scattered across the open map of San Celeste and the surrounding Sicilian countryside. These are best hunted after completing Chapter 3, which unlocks Explore Mode via the Carcyclopedia menu.

None of the 40 open-world foxes are permanently missable — all remain available indefinitely.

How to Spot a Mystery Fox

Ceramic Mystery Foxes sit on tables, stone benches, railings, barrels, tree stumps, wooden crates, and tucked against walls. Two detection cues help narrow the search:

  • A faint golden shimmer visible within a few metres of the statue
  • A soft twinkling sound that plays when Enzo is nearby

Neither cue works at range. Foxes do not appear on the minimap before collection — once collected, they display as white icons on the full Sicily map, making it easy to spot remaining gaps at a glance.

Foxes are often deliberately placed behind or flush against surfaces: one open-world Fox is specifically noted as camouflaged against a wooden fence behind it.

The Chapter 12 Warning: No Map

Three of the 10 story-exclusive Foxes are inside the Opera House during Chapter 12: La Forza Del Destino — and this chapter has no in-game map.

Navigation is entirely from memory or an external guide. All three Opera House Fox positions are marked with precise navigation notes in the interactive guide below.

The Pasquale's Store Fox: 5,000 Dinari and a Bug Warning

One Fox is purchased from Pasquale's Store for 5,000 Dinari — the most expensive single purchase in the game. A known bug can cause the fox to appear as collected on the map without counting toward the total if it is interacted with before having the full 5,000 Dinari.

To avoid this: only buy it from Explore Mode (free roam), not from Chapter Select, and ensure the full 5,000 is available before interacting with the store display.

The fastest way to farm 5,000 Dinari: load Chapter 7 from the chapter select menu, open the two Locked Boxes at the very start of the chapter, restart the checkpoint, and repeat. Dinari earned this way carries over into free roam.

The Baskerville Reward

After all 50 Mystery Foxes are collected, a new fox statue appears in Enzo's apartment in San Celeste during Explore Mode — beside the dining table, distinct from the existing bookshelf fox.

Interact with it to unlock the Baskerville outfit: a green three-piece suit with Enzo's head replaced entirely by a fully detailed German Shepherd. The outfit is equipped from the wardrobe in the apartment.
